The season of lame team names opened up with a 7-6 OT thriller, complete with breakaway chokes, hit posts, Goats, and finally someone who didn't choke. It was 1-1 after one as the two teams seemed evenly matched. Then again, Griffin and Houlihan teams are usually found at the bottom of the standings holding hands anyway. Griff's team went up 5-3 early in the third, then found themselves trailing 6-5 as sub goalie Chris Spencer could not hold the lead. Luckily playoff MVP Ryan Arrington bailed out the old goalie with a goal with 4 minutes left, and the game would head into the 3 on 3 OT period. In OT, the blue team blew a 3 on 1 break, and that led to a Houlihan breakaway. His attempt missed, but he got his own rebound, and had several more tries on Spencer before help arrived. Spencer came up huge there, keeping the game tied. Nick Rao then nearly won it for the gold team, as his shot from the point hit the post. Which was alot closer than Houlihan got from the top of the crease on his try. Eventually rugged old Kerry Dowd hit Muzz at center with a pass. Muzz stayed onside and raced in on Brown for the easy OT goal. Blue wins 7-6.
