The Snowmen had nearly a full squad at game time, as apparently Joe Furugori picked up the entire team and drove them in. On the other bench, only three skaters showed up, and no goalie. "We got some guys on this team that have never seen snow before and they made it to the game," said Bryan Marshall. "I don't know why the other team full of 'Hearty New Englanders' could only get three to show." One of the three to show was Shaky Fowler. He netted five goals, including the clinching open net goal when he took a sweet pass in the slot from opponent Bryan Marshall. "The key was putting Fab on defense with Surrette," said Fowler. "He didn't dare leave Surrette alone with Rob McHugh subbing in as our goalie." "I kind of miss Martini," said Cole. "I wish he could have been here for this win. It's like hitting the Lottery and wanting to share the moment with a long time ex-girlfriend." The blue team went up 3-0 after one and never looked back. The Snowmen did rally to within a goal when sub Sean Andrews scored with 44 seconds left, but then came the Marshall gaff to end the rally.
With the win the 5-7 Icicles have a shot to
finish the season at .500 . The Snowmen are 5-5-2 and have only won a few
games with their normal goalie. |
