Newcomer Brian Nelson made his EMRHL debut in net, and his unique style of play was just good enough to grab a 7-6 win from the frustrated Grinches. Mahoney, Brennan, Rizzo, and Martinez gave the Black Ice a 4-1 first period lead as they shelled Fitzy with 22 shots on goal to open the game. After the period, Fitzy skated over to Fab on the sidelines for some encouragement. "When your desperate, you're desperate," said Fitz. The Grinches chipped away at the lead, as Billy had to battle the Hecklers who were in his head. BSP's lone goal of the game midway through the third period would cut the Black Ice lead to 6-5. But they let Rizzo and Brennan walk in and score the all important Geico insurance goal. That would be the GW, as Dave Niemi scored his 2nd of the game with 3:40 to play to get the Grinches as close as they would get at 7-6, which was the final. "They play less defense than Spuglio's team does," laughed Rizzo.
