The Misfits took over first place with authority, as they swept their double header with a combined score of 20-8. They took on half of the Black Ice team in their back end game, and even with Rizzo, Mullen, and Collin subbing in, AND Frosty and AK splitting the net duties, the Ice never had a shot. "I think if AK plays the whole game we win," said Jay Rizzo. "Frosty's still talking about the Donkey Kong championship. He hasn't won much since 2004." It was the Jay Rizzo show for a while, a short while. He's lasted longer in a Hartford hotel room. Then it became the Joe Duffy and Mike Conley show for the Misfits. The Fits took a 6-4 lead into the third where they scored 3 more and Hajen stopped all 15 Ice shots for the 9-4 win. "Why they would put Mullen back on defense I'll never know," said Koz. "I think he may have been trying to impress Downie or something." Aside from an initial confrontation with Rain Vaters, Downie was pretty much pleasant on Saturday. "I won both my games while Fab and Cole both lost, that always puts me in a good mood," said the Bobcat. The Ice team, or the half that showed up, blew a great chance to steal first place from the Fits. On the trading block for the Ice: Melanson and Rain Vaters. |
