The day began with the 7th and 8th place teams squaring off at 9am with the Blizz taking it 7-5. For the Blizzard, it was like Samson in reverse. Jim Desalvo cut his hair and he became a better hockey player. He tagged poor Justin Guimond for four goals as the Blizzard improved to .500 on the season. The Wise Men began their double header morning with just 4 skaters. Three more showed up about a half hour later. "The four of us were still in the game, then Murf showed up to give us five," said Dennis. The Blizzard fell behind 1-0 when Rick Olson scored early in the first. But goals by Ray Binky, Desavlo and E-11 would put the light blue team up, and they would never trail again. After Gary Casey scored the 4th Blizz goal, Desalvo scored the final three for the winners. Smack Ciancarelli missed several open net chances, but did manage to put home one of his spoon fed chances late in the third. The good news for the last place Wise Men is, they are only 4 points out of third place in the tight Saturday league standings. Guys from this game who could be involved in some of the trades later this week:
Ernie, Olson, Smack, Binky, and Justin. |
