When Houlihan didn't show up for the Wise Men, the team was wondering how they would pull out a win without their magic bullet. Luckily they were playing the Blizzard, and Muf and Dennis combined to block nearly every shot taken by the last place Blizz team. "That really sucks because all my shots today were going on net until those guys got in they way," said Spuglio. "That was the plan," said Murf. "We figured if we score 9 goals and held the other team to 8 shots, then we'd win 9-8. So Dennis and I tried to block as many shots as possible." Murf even had a goal, though it was into his own net. Rick Olson had twice as many goals as Dan Armstrong, but Dan was still the better player. "If I could only compete in the Tuesday league that would be great," said Armstrong. But the hero with the cape in this game was Smack Ciancarelli. Four goals, two assists, and zero missed open nets. "I basically hit for the cycle," laughed Smack. "And I didn't bump into Murf once behind the other team's net." Sewie was the lone
bright spot once again for the Blizzard with a goal and a sweet assist. And we hear that Ray Binky will
be missing the playoffs for the light blue team. Time for Commissioner
Gordon to put the Joe Mullen symbol up in the sky... |
