It took a bunch of tries, but eventually last season's Champion goalie got a win on Saturday, backboning the Snowmen to an 8-7 nailbiter. It was Spence's 2nd game of the day, and he nearly blew it late, but hung on for the win. The Blizzard got a sub upgrade when Muzz jumped in for Jim DeSalvo. On the other side, the Snowmen got a huge downgrade when Jay Rizzo subbed in for Bryan Marshall. "That's a big hit for us to take considering Spencer was playing for Frosty," noted captain Jeremy Socia. After taking a 1-0 lead the Blizzard found themselves sucking hind tit yet again. But once again they managed to rally late in the game. This time though the rally came up a goal short when Craig Fabiano was broken up by Rizzo as he crossed the center line with 5 seconds left and having three teammates standing in front of the net. "Muzz never passes," said Rizzo. "I know his every move, all one of them." It's a good thing the Snowmen got Rizzo, as Joe Furugori, Jordan Smith, and Eben Crawford all combined for two points. Two very generous points we might add. "It didn't even feel like we won," noted Crawford. "Sometimes it doesn't even feel like I'm part of the team."
"We didn't have Sean Sullivan here to hold our
