The Misfits went up 2-0 and half the Blizzard team quit playing. Who would have known that they would rally to force a shootout, and then watch Downie choke on his attempt for the Misfits in the Blizzard's 9-8 bonus hockey win. "It's how you want to end the day, with the ball on Downie's stick and Kenny in goal," noted Chris Spuglio. Kenny made only one save in the shootout, and it was on Downie to preserve the win. This after Hajen had watched three shots go sailing by him. As mentioned it was all Misfits early on, grabbing a 3-0 lead before Jim DeSalvo scored to give the Blizzard a Ray of hope. After falling behind 5-1 on Ryan Rizzo's 3rd goal early in the 2nd period, the light blue team loaded up the rally van and ripped off 5 straight goals to take a brief 6-5 lead. Mike Conley scored just before the buzzer to tie it, setting up an interesting third period. Could the Misfits carry the momentum into the third? Would the Blizzard quit again if they went down by a goal? Rizzo and Conley each scored for the Misfits, but Spuglio matched that with a pair of his own, the last one coming with just 30 seconds left to send the teams to the shootout. As mentioned all 3 shooters for the Blizzard scored (DeSalvo, Spuglio, Casey). Rizzo scored for the Misfits but Kenny stuffed Downie to give the Blizzard the shocking win.
